  8. Sylvia De Baca says:

RICHARD AND CESAR ARE THEN AND NOW CHAMPIONS OF THE FARM HANDS. THEY ARE A LEGACY OF THIS COUNTRY. WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE THEM. WE SHOULD ALWAYS HONOR AND REMIND PEOPLE WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY HAVE ACHIEVED FOR THE UNSEEN AND FORGOTTEN FARM HANDS THAT PUT THE FOOD ON OUR TABLES. JUSTICE HAS STILL NOT BEEN SERVED FOR THESE HARD WORKING PEOPLE. WITH THE HARD WORK CESAR AND RICHARD HAS BROUGHT ABOUT THEY ARE ALOT BETTER OFF THAN THEY WERE BUT FAR FROM BEING EQUAL.

  9. John Vasquez Bedoy says:

May you now join Cesar in heaven.Rest In Peace

  10. Nancy Neumann says:

Blessings and prayers to the Chavez family from us, a family who appreciates all their work and sacrifice and love for the farm workers! May God bless you richly with many rewards in heaven! Nancy Neumann

  11. Noe Gonzalez Garza says:

A great man was blessed with a great woman. Helen provided the perseverance and motivation Cesar needed against great odds serving the “forgotten people”. She is a critical part of the success the UFW experienced throughout history. God chose Helen and Cesar and Dolores to lead the campesinos. She is a great example for all of humanity for she served the poorest of the poor humbly and quietly while raising a family.

At Columbia Heights Elementary in San Antonio, Texas, I teach elementary art and we have been creating art honoring Cesar, Dolores, and los campesinos to continue the legacy for the past 14 years. We will now include Helen in our art. This year the artwork was on exhibit in the historical Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio. It has also been exhibited in the State Capitol in Austin, Texas. In closing, it is imperative, as educators and parents, that we we continue educating our children about the life and legacy of Cesar, Dolores, Helen and the farmworkers as they are still fighting for better wages and working conditions. Si Se Puede!

  12. Wow I fondly remember working for and with the UNITED FARM WORKES. Remember pulling an overnight shift guarding the home Cesar Chavez was visiting for an important meeting. I loved working for this group and for Cesar the marches, the boycotts, the security shifts, etc. we will and do miss him and his lovely devoted wife. They are heros! Rest in peace knowing your labor of love was not in VAIN! SI SE PUEDE! VIVA LA CAUSA!

  13. Mary Fabela says:

Helen, you were my sister in law for 49 years. You were always kind and caring. We loved visiting you and always were thrilled when you came to our home.
    Rest in peace
    Love,
    Frank,Mary,Danny and Maria.

  14. Lupita says:

Helen, a most virtuous woman, as in the book of Proverbs. I am blessed to have visited her and Cesar at La Paz,,a place of peace, where our ” Prince of Peace” dwelt among His humble people, whom He loves. She walked in His grace for in weakness, the Lord was her strength. Cesar’s closest ally and confidant, and my friend, Bill Soltero, loved Helen dearly for her humility and loyalty to Cesar and El Campesino. Pray with me, “Lord Jesus, I repent of all my sins, thank you for forgiving me, I invite you to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving my soul and filling me with Your precious Holy Spirit, I want to serve you as my sister Helen,Cesar and Bill did. They gave their lives for you, I too surrender all and serve YOU, all the days of my life,Amen.
